Chopper Mania!!

This helicopter is one of the helicopters that lands at Rumginae regularly. It has been landing here to drop of men for oil rigs close to here it also picks men up. The brand of helicopter is Eurocopter. Stars ambulance in Alberta uses this same type of helicopter for their air ambulances. One day during school one if these helicopters landed about five times and every time it landed me and Carter were watching and every time mom would tell us to get back to work, which did not help school at all. Yogi our pet bird doesn't even like them.  When ever it comes he starts squawking and it sounds like he is giving it what for. It is really funny. A group of people always gather to watch, they attract lots of attention. The helicopter usually blows the cone markers for the air strip away but when it takes off some boys are always there putting them back. I sure wished they were coming for other purposes than oil but their not.

Bamboo Blow Guns, the Bush Boys Best Toy

The bamboo that I have there we got by walking half hour in to the bush. The bullets we use is from the black palm which the people use here for the sidings of there kuk haus (cook house). The bullets are really hard and hurt when they get shot at you. There is two types one looks more like a bullet and the other one is like a sphere. Boys around here have such good aim that they can kill geckos. I have tried to shoot them to but it is really hard especially when your bamboo is not straight. The size of the hole can vary. Smaller holes are better for the bullet shaped fruit bigger holes are better for the sphere shaped ones. Usually we have skirmishes with them. When we have a skirmish it's every boy for himself. Once we start we get to shoot any boy we like but you better expect a sharp pain in return. Yikes do they hurt! The other day we found a bees nest in the cracks of somebodies house so all the boys decided to shoot the bees. We killed a lot of them but the swarming bees made it harder. Two boys got stung but not me. Well that's all.

Our Cheeky Bird!!

On friday last week we got a black capped lory and he has been nothing but trouble. He is not potty trained and makes a ton of messes, he is loud and obnoxious but cute. Yesterday we were giving him a bath by misting him with a spray bottle and then he flew away. So we rushed outside to find him. Some of our friend were outside and they helped us. Then one of the friends looked down from where he was standing on a small 5 ft cliff and saw it. He told one of the kids to go and get it. The kid did but it bite him and he threw the bird and it flew to a near by tree so we went over to the tree and whistled and called and whistled again. Before this happened I was trying to teach Yogi how to say pretty bird and he didn't learn it but when he didn't answer when we called and whistled I called pretty bird and Yogi answered back with a squawk. So we called that a lot but then Yogi did not answer. Eventually I came in because I was to hot but Carter stayed out and whistled and eventually Yogi started answering back with small little chattering so Carter kept on whistling and Yogi would answer back and then Yogi flew down. Carter then went to where Yogi landed and said Yogi come and he crawled threw the grass and up Carter's arm and then Carter started yelling "Kaleb we got him we got him". and I raced to the door and sure enough there Yogi was. I was so happy. Now we have decided to keep Yogi indoors only until we get his cage finished.
